Hope for Healing Award PDF Print E-mail

Hidenwood Receives Red Cross Award

At its annual awards ceremony on April 27, the Red Cross presented Hidenwood its “Hope for Healing” award for outstanding blood donor contributions. Hidenwood has gone from one or two blood drives per year to one every 56+ days to get donors on a regular schedule. This, along with a better turn out, has increased our donations ten-fold. Let’s keep it up! Next drive: Thursday, July 5.

Join and/or Support Our Relay Team!

Friday, June 1: Opening ceremonies, 7 p.m.; Survivor Lap, 7:15 p.m.; Lighting of Luminaries, 9 p.m., Todd Stadium

It’s official! Hidenwood’s Relay for Life team is now registered for the American Cancer Society’s annual fundraising event at Todd Stadium, and all are welcome to join the team or support it in his/her own way.

New this year is an online site where church members and friends may:

1) Donate to the team;

2) Honor loved ones with luminaries; and

3) Join the Hidenwood team.

Visit http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?fr_id=40956&pg=teamlist

You may also join the team by contacting Hidenwood team captain Jimmie Espich, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ; 595-6658.

There are several ways you can support the team from the sidelines. Our May Fellowship Dinner will be hosted by the youth, with contributions going to Relay for Life. Along with hamburgers and hot dogs, there will be homemade side dishes and “Celebrate More Birthdays” cupcakes and ice cream. Cost of the dinner and additional donations will go to the fund-raising event.

The youth will also have luminaries on sale for $10—these are white paper bags you may decorate and write the name of a loved one who has been touched by cancer. Each of these bags will be lit with a candle and placed around the track at Todd Stadium. During the Luminary Ceremony on Friday night, 100s of these bags will light up the night, and burn as a beacon of hope for a cure for cancer. If you can make it to Todd Stadium for this 9 p.m. ceremony, you’ll never forget it.

Luminaries will also be available in the narthex on Sundays, May 13, 20 and 27. Together we can create a world with less cancer and more birthdays! Support our Hidenwood team.
