Order Chili and Cornbread for Super Bowl Sunday!

Prepare for Super Bowl Sunday by ordering MILD chili ($10 quart) and cornbread ($5 pan) from our youth as they participate in the national day of service known as "The Souper Bowl of Caring." Orders will be ready for pick up on Saturday, February 4, and Sunday, February 5, or they may be frozen for pick up later in the week. Proceeds will go to our Food Closet, and to help subsidize registration fees for the youth to attend youth conferences at Massanetta and Montreat. Order in the narthex or the church office.

Book Lovers Used Book Sale - Proceeds benefit Hidenwood Media Center (Library)

You may donate books to the sale throughout the month of January by placing them in one of the collection boxes at each entrance to the church.

Menchville House:

Presbyterian Women’s January Project

 

The Presbyterian Women is supporting the Menchville House as their project for the month of January. This is a long-term 4-bed facility that houses homeless women and their children for up to 24 months. This home is always in need of many items for the residents. A partial list includes: gift cards to local stores (Sam's, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Food Lion, Dollar Tree, Dollar General, etc.), bed linens for twin beds, office supplies including copy paper, envelopes, post-it notes, legal pads, paper products including napkins, toilet tissue, paper towels, paper plates and plastic flatware, tissues, cleaning supplies, kitchen storage products, hygiene and hair care products, lamps and light bulbs (energy efficient). Any of these items can be brought to the church office at 414 Hiden Boulevard, Newport News, and they will be delivered at the end of the month.

Mission Trip to Alabama Set for February 12-18

 

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance's (PDA) commitment to long-term recovery means there are volunteers needed in locations that are no longer in the media headlines. At this time, our Presbytery (PEVA) Disaster Recovery Planning Team is working to provide Tornado Recovery to Birmingham, Alabama. Volunteer housing will be at First United Presbyterian Church of Forestdale. Three volunteer teams are being formed to provide continuous work from February 12-March 3. Each team will work for a week at a time. Hidenwood's dates are February 12-18.
