Youth Programs

Sunday mornings are the time for great discussions about God's Word, the world condition today and our place in society as members of the Christian faith. You may have learned the basics in elementary school, but now it is time to step up to a deeper understanding of the abundant life God desires for each of us. We are having a great time, but discussion is always better when there are more voices and opinions! We would love to have you be part of these groups!

Middle Schools join Bob Snyder in room 205 and Senior Highs meet with Bart Bacon and Jim Aguirre in room 207 at 9:40.

By the way, special discounts for some youth fellowship activities may be available for those registered youth group members who also attend Sunday School!

Middle School

Led by Bob Snyder, in room 205, our Sunday morning studies will follow the Faith-for-Life curriculum this year exploring such topics as Choosing Wisely, Peer Pressure, The Bible and Me, What's a Christian, and Why God Made Me. These issues focus on problems and situations, faith challenges, and biblical discoveries relevant to all sixth, seventh and eighth graders. Educational Wing, Second Floor

Senior High

We will begin the year with a 13-week video discussion series that invites teen participation and explores situations all teens encounter. Topics include Fitting In, Beautiful People, The Outcasts, Hope, Freedom, Culture Clash, Who Are You, and several others. We will also explore materials from the Abington Press curriculum, Combos For Youth Groups. Themes include The Game of Life; Takin' Out the Trash; For Heaven's Sake; Walk Tall; Awesome Powers; and Finding You. Teachers are Bart Bacon & Jim Aguirre in room 207.

Youth Fellowship

Our Youth Fellowship program offers recreation, guest speakers, Bible-based lessons, community outreach, field trips, food, fun and fellowship for both Middle School and Senior High students. Hidenwood youth and their friends are invited to participate. Sundays, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Sunday School

Elementary Oasis (K-5th Grades). The Oasis is a creative Sunday school program based on the concept of “workshop rotation,” in which each grade level rotates to a different learning center each week.  Currently we are studying:

"Into the Promised Land!"
Come join us as we go on a journey with Moses and the Hebrew people through the Red Sea, through the desert and into the promised Land! We will be involved in some great fun as we make dioramas in our Art Station. We will make "manna" and "milk & honey" milkshakes in the Cooking Station, and we will use Rev. Bill's "real" puppet stage and faceless puppets in the Theater Station. Now, you know you will want to be here every Sunday for these great experiences."

The Way of the Child

Children in grades 1-5 are embarking on a new adventure of spiritual development!  Room 203 has been converted into “The Upper Room” where children will have the opportunity to learn to communicate with God through prayer and quiet meditative activities.

Sundays at 5:30 p.m., we will meet first in McKeithen Hall for a snack/dinner and them move upstairs for our program. We’ll dismiss at 7:00 p.m

Preschool Sunday School (2½-5 years).

Church-Hour

Preschool Church Hour Activity Time (C.H.A.T.) (Ages 2½-5 Years). More than just a nursery, C.H.A.T. provides fun-filled learning activities for our preschool-age children during the church hour. Room 120

Nursery (Newborn-2½ years). Room 100

(We invite children over the age of 2½ to participate in C.H.A.T.)

Quiet Call Pager System

For the safety of our children and the peace-of-mind of our parents, we have purchased a Quiet Call Nursery Pager System. This system allows us to silently alert parents in the sanctuary if they are needed in the newborn nursery, CHAT or playground. We are hoping this will help all of the parents of our youngsters feel more secure and comfortable as they worship. A big thank you goes out to the Presbyterian Women and the Memorial Fund for making this purchase possible
