Come learn about the Gibraltar of the Chesapeake and the clash of the Ironsides at the largest stone fort in the U.S. The price is right—it’s free! We will travel in our church vans. Sign up in the narthex Sundays

Several people have asked if we could arrange a tour of the Casemate Museum and the Chapel of the Centurion on another date. Yes, we can! The additional date is Wednesday, July 30. For each tour, meet in McKeithen Hall at 9:30 a.m. and bring a picture ID, which is required to get on base. There is no fee for the tour. Please sign up in narthex or church office.

Taizé Worship Offers Beauty of Simplicity

First Wednesdays of month; 6:30-7:15 p.m.; Chapel

Have you attended one of our monthly Taizé services yet? If not, the next service will be Wednesday, June 4. Chances are Taizé will be unlike any other worship opportunity you may have had. It is a calm, quiet service— a time to pray and meditate for peace and reconciliation. The 45-minute Taizé service at Hidenwood is held in the chapel for greater intimacy. Worshippers sing quiet, repetitive songs. They light candles for loved ones, and observe a period of silent meditation. This form of common worship comes from a tradition of an ecumenical cloistered community in Taizé, France, which became a place of pilgrimage for young people from around the world.

Book Club Reading “Twilight at Monticello”  by Alan Pell Crawford

Wed., May 7th, 7:15 p.m. McMullen Room

“Author Alan Pell Crawford paints a rather grim portrait of the post-presidential years of the life of Thomas Jefferson. This is not an expose or a hatchet job on the founding father, though. One learns that—like all humans —Jefferson had his flaws and his own personal and family struggles.”
