This choir forms the core for our music ministry at Hidenwood. Open to all high school and adult singers interested in offering their voices to the glory of God in worship. This choir leads the singing during Sunday worship and offers special music throughout the year for the congregation and community. New members are always welcome.
Angel Choir (Grades 1 & 2) Rehearses Tuesdays. 4:30-5:30
Choristers begin to experience the choral experience in this group. Each week rehearsals include anthems and songs for worship, singing hymns, creative movement, dance and instruments, and musical games.
Carol Choir (Grades 3-8) Rehearses Tuesdays. 4:30-5:30
The beauty of the treble voice blooms in this talented singing
group. This choir leads the other children's groups in singing for
worship and presenting costumed cantatas and dramas. Rehearsals include
singing, instruments, music reading and games. Note: Added grade levels!
We are planning at least two major productions for the Christmas and
Lenten seasons this year. Our new Drama Troupe will rehearse on an
as-needed basis. We need performers, backstage helpers in costuming,
stage managing, set building, painting and makeup. This is going
to be fun!
| HidenBells (Adult) Rehearses Thursdays
6:00-7:15
This handbell choir rings four octaves of Schulmerich Handbells for worship and fun. All ringers have some experience in simple reading of notes and rhythm. HidenBells presents music for worship once a month. Ensemble Ringers (Selected Adults) Rehearses Wednesdays 6:00-7:00 This is the most advanced level of handbell ringing offered. Challenging ensemble music for four or five experienced ringers. Quartet, quintet, four-in-hand and solo ringing taught. |
Hidenwood owns a three octave set of Schulmerich Handbells as well as a three octave set of Malmark hand chimes. Several ensembles perform on these instruments. |
In addition to the organ and piano music, Hidenwood is blessed with numerous individuals who perform on musical instruments during the year. For larger choral works small ensembles and chamber orchestras are brought in to support the choir.

a)Through music in worship God enables us to hear and receive faith’s deepest truths, inspires within us love and loyalty, and gives us voice to offer our thanks to God.
b)Through music, rooted in gospel and tradition, the congregation is empowered to recognize, develop, share, and enrich our gifts for ministry as disciples of Jesus Christ through the grace and inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
c)Through music we strive to worship in a manner that is lively and enjoyable as well as reverent and holy, with a variety of musical styles, instrumental and choral, that reflects our Reformed theology, glorifies God, nurtures faith, builds community and inspires our ministry and mission in the church and in the world.
2. “Reformed theology”: Reformed theology encompasses
the Christian, Protestant and Reformed doctrines as defined by John
Calvin and other sixteenth century reformers and is embodied in those
churches in the Reformed family of faith including the Presbyterian
Church.
